Thomas Dooley Named Head Coach of Philippines NT

dooley32014Former USA National Team Captain and German 1 Bundesliga veteran, Thomas Dooley, was named the new Head Coach of the Philippines National Team for 2014. He takes over for the Azkals ahead of the AFC Challenge Cup taking place in the Maldives in May, and is being brought on to push the national side towards qualification for the Asian Cup

Dooley had previously been an assistant for the USA U20 NT and holds a UEFA “A” License from the German Football Federation (DFB). Dooley featured in the 1994 and 1998 World Cup as a player for the USA and featured 81 times for the side overall. He was also inducted to the USA Soccer Hall of Fame in 2010 and had earned a number of accolades throughout his career in Europe with FC Kaiserslautern and Schalke 04 where he won a German Bundesliga Championship and a European Championship respectively. He was also an important member of the Major League Soccer during its early stages where he was also named to the leagues Best XI and MLS All-Star team on a number of occasions.

Hassli Joins FCDallas in 2013

vsportlandForward, Eric Hassli, joined FC Dallas today after a trade was agreed upon with his former club, Toronto FC. A quiet individual off the field, Hassli is a fierce competitor and a committed team player who bleeds for his badge. He registered 5 goals and 5 assists in 2012 while fighting through injuries. And he was also a finalist for FIFA’s Puskas Goal of the Year in 2012 following his powerful volley in the Amway Canadian Championship final while playing for Vancouver against Toronto FC (prior to joining the Ontario club later in the year). The recent trade to Dallas for the exciting French goal scorer involved Toronto FC receiving future considerations in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft.

Hassli departs Toronto thankful for his time with the club. He shares his wishes for success to former teammates and management at Toronto FC and to the club supporters that join the players in fighting for the shirt every week. He now looks forward to his next career challenge and is excited to join his new club for preseason. He remains focused on contributing to FC Dallas’ success on the field in 2013 and is eager to prove himself and earn the support of his teammates, managers and passionate fan base of his new MLS club:

Hassli Traded to Toronto FC

Eric Hassli, 31, was traded from the Vancouver Whitecaps to Toronto FC. Hassli arrived in Vancouver in 2011 and was signed to one of Major League Soccer’s elite contracts as a Designated Player. He will now move from the Western Conference to the Eastern Conference as Toronto FC seeks to replace its Dutch striker, Danny Koevermans, who was recently ruled out for the season with a cruciate knee injury. SInce arriving in MLS, Hassli has recorded 15 goals and 5 assists in 52 combined league and Canadian Cup appearances during his time with the Whitecaps.

Jeremiah White Joins Revolution

Nova Sports Group client, Jeremiah White, has officially agreed to terms with the New England Revolution and is set to join the Boston-based Major League Soccer (MLS) club to start the 2012 season pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate. White was last registered to play with GKS Belchatów in the top league in Poland during 2010. The 2003 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Year and Hermann Trophy Finalist out of Wake Forest University now joins the Revolution after having been initially drafted by the club in 2004. White did not sign with MLS that season and instead opted to embark upon a European journey to test his luck overseas.

In Memoriam – Joel S. Feigenson

Joel S. Feigenson, MD, age 67, an intensely benevolent healer, a gifted photographer and a dedicated family man and friend, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. Son of Ethel and Abraham Feigenson, he was widely known as a talented and compassionate physician. In his 40-year career as a neurologist, he was instrumental in the development of Neurorehabilitation as a medical field.

Raised in White Plains, N.Y., Dr. Feigenson attended Columbia University and then studied medicine at New York University Medical School, where he also did his residency in Neurology. Dr. Feigenson created the Stroke Unit at the Burke Rehabilitation Center and wrote the first chapters on Neurologic Rehabilitation in the standard textbooks for neurologic training. After joining Associated Neurologists in Bridgeport, he designed and directed dedicated inpatient rehabilitation units, first at Park City and then at St. Vincent’s Hospitals. Dr. Feigenson was also medical director of Rehabilitation Associates since its founding, providing outpatient rehabilitation throughout the area, and was a Board Member of the Stroke Council and the American Society of Neurorehabilitation. Throughout his career, Dr. Feigenson touched many lives as a healer and teacher. One colleague wrote, “He is so smart and gifted. He has taught all of us to think critically and out of the box. He has made us all better health care professionals and more importantly, better people.” He was known for his keen, intuitive diagnostic sense and human touch.

Nova at Juve and Milan Friendlies

Actively preparing for the summer transfer window, Nova Sports Group President, Rob Feigenson, attended two friendly international matches in May to meet with the host Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs as well as members of the international football community. The first of two matches took place at the new Red Bull Arena in New Jersey where Red Bull New York took on Juventus FC and emerged the victor by a score of 3-1. Nova Sports Group attended the match as a guest of Juventus. The second match came three days later at RFK Stadium in Washington DC when DC United hosted AC Milan and also proved the better side on the night with a 3-2 result.
